Established 1973
Newport Sand & Gravel Co., Inc., is a family held corporation originally incorporated in New Hampshire in 1959 as Eaton Jones Sand and Gravel Co, Inc. The name was changed in1973, when it was acquired by Shaun P. Carroll. At the time, the operation consisted of a single sand and gravel crushing plant in Newport, New Hampshire.
In 1979, the Company entered the ready-mix business, “Carroll Concrete”, with the acquisition of a batch plant and three ready-mix trucks that were set up at the Newport Sand and Gravel pit. Acquisition and opening of other locations and operations followed.

In 1986, opened Ready Mix Plant Bristol, NH
In 1987, opened Ready Mix Plant W. Lebanon, NH
In 1995, acquired Calkins Ready Mix, with four ready mix locations: Coventry, St. Johnsbury and Guildhall VT, and Woodsville NH and one sand and gravel crushing plant in Guildhall, VT
In 1997, acquired Tilcon/Arthur Whitcomb’s Ready Mix operations, with six locations: West Lebanon, Keene, Peterborough NH
Acquired Lane Construction’s Ready Mix plant, Brattleboro, VT
In 2000, started Construction Supply Division Newport, NH
In 2001, acquired A.G. Anderson’s Ready Mix Operations with three locations in Vermont: Barre, Johnson and Swanton and one sand plant in Highgate, VT
Acquired A.G. Anderson’s Commercial Concrete Contracting Business Barre, VT
Acquired Dealership from Redi Rock, International-retaining wall system Division becomes Redi Rock Walls of New England
In 2002, opened additional Construction Supply Store in West Lebanon, NH
Acquired New England Laser & Transit Co. -- move operation to Newport, NH
In 2005, started Concrete Pumping Division W. Lebanon, NH and Barre, VT
Started Equipment Rental Division Newport, NH
Opened an additional Construction Supply Store
Acquired R & J Industrial Floors to enhance Repair & Decorative Division in Barre, VT
In 2007, became an authorized Producer/Distributor for Rosetta Hardscapes
In 2008, sold New England Laser
Became an authorized Distributor for Nudura ICF’s
Sold Construction Division to RG Gosselin Inc
In 2009, became an authorized Producer/Distributor for REDI-SCAPES
In 2018, acquired two New Hampshire ready-mix plants in Littleton and Columbia from Oldcastle.
In 2019, acquired ready mix plant from LE Weed & Son, South Main, Newport, NH
Acquired Pike Hill Quarry, Newport, NH from LE Weed & Son.
